"I came here last year in October. I came to Canada for the first time and the first city was Fredericton. I like this place; it’s so peaceful, there are lots of trees, it’s so beautiful. I feel comfortable and quiet, because in China, my city is a little big.

But it’s a little difficult to live in a new place. We haven’t had a chance to know real Canada life. Because sometimes we meet Canada people and we say, “Hello!” and talk simply. But then we are left together, the Chinese people. So this is a problem. We want to know Canada people’s life, but there’s no chance. I want to find volunteer work, but they said, “oh, you’re English is not very good, you cannot do volunteer job.” So we also have a big problem: it’s English. For example, me. Because my age is more than 50, learning English in China is difficult so I think, “oh! If I come to Canada, I can improve my English!” But no, because we haven’t a lot of chance to stay with Canada people. To talk, to learn. In my country, if a lot of people like English, they can find some place and talk to each other every weekend. Chinese people want to practice English. But I don’t know if we can do it here or not. Maybe if some Canada people want to help us."
